Georgian Sexual Revolution

Performance for You Tube

This work is connected to Georgian Rose revolution, which happened in November 2003 and was a bloodless revolution that displaced President Eduard Shevardnadze, who is mainly well known in Germany. A significant source of funding for the Rose revolution was the network of foundations and NGOs associated with American billionaire George Soros, who spent 42$ million for the overthrow of Shevardnadze. In January 2004 the leader of the Rose Revolution Michael Saakashvili won the presidential elections and took curse towards West, Micheil Saakashvili is married to Sandra E. Roelofs, of Dutch origin and has two sons, Eduard and Nikoloz. He was educated in United States and become internationally known after the war with Russia in august 2008.
Georgian Rose revolution was an inspiration for Ukrainian Orange revolution in November 2004 and Kyrgyzstan Pink or so called Tulip revolution in 2005.
My work is a first investigation into the Georgian Sexual Revolution, that didn’t happen yet in Georgia, mainly because of the lack of the time.

Who is I?
Mentor: Titus Muizelaar

Being condemned is freedom. I love you. That’s hard to say. But my heart can tell you. So, who am I? When walking, doing the dishes, searching the market for ingredients, jumping off the cliff in Cinque Terre in Italy, I am with you and my heart flows. And I don’t know you. I condemn you to me, because I am condemned to you. In Block 29, anyhow. Why condemned, you may think. Why that word.... Because that’s not what you want to hear right now. Surrounding is. You behold something gentle. The word has action. Both words were created but also polluted. So, again: Condemned. I grant you the transformation of this word, as I want to condemn you and make you experience how liberty thus will surround you. For the rest is illusion. And that is fundamentally different from a dream. The dream is the condemnation you don’t want to stay in.

You don’t want obstructions on your road. But you are your own obstruction. Who is I? Who are I? And what is a closet falling open? Your starting-point is DasArts, by your own choice. But when DasArts was there, you transformed it into possibility. I would like to ask you to let yourself be surrounded by DasArts. So, to be condemned.

Strindberg. August, not Augustus Strindberg. That ‘us’ shouldn’t be there. Every closet falling open does not want to be ordened, it wants to be lived. Let your closet fall open...and what do you see? That ‘us’ is the first to fall out, and you certainly don’t want that. That is how the world named you, but not who you are. And to emphasize that is condemning yourself. You focus on the detail, the law is on your side, but once again you’re in the illusion... Still with me? Essentials and details. Discernment.

Fermata

Dance performance /30 min/
Theaterfestival Off Europa: Ans Mehr
Leipzig

Fermata is a notation marking directing the performer to sustain the note of a composition as long as the artistic interpretation of the performer allows. The common effect is that fermata will extend the duration of either a note or a silence at the discretion of the performer. This mark interrupts the normal tempo of a composition.

I am interested to discover the moments of interruption, using silence as a reflection to take space for new desitions.

Block 28 runs from 3 March 2008 - 9 May 2008
Semester 28 starts on 1 March 2008 and ends on 31 August 2008

The culture of fear that is rapidly getting the world in its grip stems from a vast array of developments in human societies and from the burden that our numbers are placing on the biosphere, our only and necessary 'umbilical cord' to what keeps us alive. This is becoming an impossible situation. As more and more awareness is being created, people are becoming more or less forced to actively think about and work on all different kinds of possible solutions to the vast waves of problems that will keep coming our way for the next century and counting.

Societies need to go through profound changes in order to keep the world viable for human beings. Since humans are 'predators' at the top of the ecological pyramid, they also form a cornerstone that can keep that pyramid intact for man and nature. If the 'Nature Based Internet' collapses, the consequences are incalculable.
Capitalism is not prepared to sustain its own greed over the long run, but it is the dominant economical system, give or take a few leftovers from the socialist experiments for New Societies in the 20th century (think Cuba, Burma, North Korea...). The push for total globalization is at one and the same time a disaster and possibly a part of the solutions. Or not?

The selected works below were done during this block and were ment as reacftions on topics from different lectures and discussions during the block. As they were done in very schort time (from 2 days to 1 week) there are considered to be ‘work in progreess’ and serve, as a platform for further discussions.
